Sugar Free
Sugar Free candies is a very interesting project.
While, I’m sorry to say, I don’t have all the sugar substitutes – I do have six of those so I decided to give it a go. I will be testing all sort of ingredients and additives with these candies.
I know what you guys are saying… is that natural? is it good for you or us?
Well, yes and no, as always.
Sugar substitutes as I see it are divided into two categories: synthetic, super sweet substitures: for example saccharin is 3-400 times sweeter than sugar; Sucralose is 600 times sweeter than sugar, etc. I do not refer to these sweetners as I do not consider them to be safe or good for human consumption.
So what do I use? natural alternative sugar substitutes.
Yes, these are synthetically produced, but do exist in nature – for example: Sorbitol, Maltitol, Mannitol, Erytritol, and so on. At the moment I have enough to start testing quite a few alternatives.
So please join me and we will test all sort of sugar substitutes with many different natural ingredients such as honey, cinnamon, ginger, mint and so on.
Have a sweet day
