Do you know the red-candy coated apples you buy at fairs and other occasions?
The sugar-corn syrup-water and lot’s of synthetic red dye kind?<\/p>\n

Well – these are EASY to make!<\/p>\n

Just make your favorite candy and coat an apple with it!<\/p>\n

My favorites are cinnamon or honey – both go wonderfully well with apples, of course.<\/p>\n

Do you still insist on “RED” dye? Not a a problem – use some cherry jam. During the cooking the flavor will vanish – but not the color! You will have a neutral flavored jam that is wonderfully red<\/p>\n

Here is how to make these:<\/p>\n

<\/iframe><\/p>\nFor a batch of three apples you will need 1\/2 cups of sugar (i.e. twice my usual batch). I suggest you make a full cup – and pour a batch of candies from the reminder. Better safe than sorry…<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\nCandy coated apples recipe<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nCandy making recipe can be obtained from my website. I prefer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spicecandies.com\/?page_id=80\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cinnamon candies<\/a> or honey candies (seen in the video link), but you can choose any flavor you prefer. If you can’t find the flavor you want – just email me (it’s free, of course!).<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\nUtensils\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nCandy making utensils<\/p>\nOne heat resistant (leather if possible) glove<\/p>\nParchment paper<\/p>\nFan (optional) – but make sure the blades and net are clean<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\nIngredients<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nApples – the kind you like, cleaned, wiped and dry!<\/p>\nScewers (thick ones!) or even better – chopsticks!<\/p>\nHot batch of candy you just finised making (at 150C)<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\nProtocol<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nPrepare the apples, wash these thoroughly, clean and dry thoroughly. Stick the skewers or wooden handles of you liking into the apples (make sure you don’t choose flexible handles!) and wipe the juice away.<\/p>\nPrepare the candy you prefer (if you want to make more than one flavor – do it one at a time). As soon as you shut down the heat – take an apple and stick it 1\/3rd way into the hot candy. Rotate the apple so you will have a good coverage (it takes some practice!). Place the apple in front of the fan and allow to cool while rotating. If you don’t have the time or help – just place it on the parchment paper. The base will be slightly thick.<\/p>\nPresto. You are done.<\/p>\nStore the apples in the fridge in a very lightly oiled nylon bag. Enjoy.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\nSafety\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nLet me put that again: The apples must<\/strong> be dry or you will have issues with the candy as you introduce water droplets into 150C or 302F HOT candy – candy splatter is no fun!!!<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\nNote For Beginners<\/b>: Before you start please watch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1n3TJxGOcTo&t=23s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">my 101<\/a> series including the hazard video.
